Low-alkalinity water
Where conventional coagulant dosing crashes pH and forces lime supplementation.
High basicity grade
ACH is the high-basicity end of the polyaluminium chloride family — typically 83% basicity, minimal pH depression, and near-zero alkalinity consumption.
Aluminium chlorohydrate is not a separate chemistry from polyaluminium chloride — it sits at the high-basicity end of the same family, typically around 83% basicity, with a correspondingly high aluminium content and very low chloride relative to aluminium.
What that means practically: almost all the hydrolysis has already happened during manufacture. ACH barely consumes alkalinity and barely moves pH. On water where a conventional coagulant would force you to dose lime or soda ash just to stay in range, ACH removes that second chemical from the process entirely.
The trade-off is cost and mechanism. ACH is more expensive per tonne, and because it delivers less raw charge neutralisation, it underperforms on high-turbidity water where a lower-basicity product would be both cheaper and more effective. It is a precision tool, not an upgrade.
Applications
Where conventional coagulant dosing crashes pH and forces lime supplementation.
Lower residual aluminium risk and gentler pH effect ahead of UF and RO.
Sweep and bridging mechanisms outperform charge neutralisation in clear water.
Holds performance at low temperature better than lower-basicity products.
ACH is also an antiperspirant active. That is a different grade specification — tell us if that is your application.
Retention aid and pitch control applications where pH stability is critical.
FAQ
ACH is a high-basicity polyaluminium chloride, typically around 83% basicity. Standard PAC ranges from about 40% to 70%. ACH consumes almost no alkalinity and barely depresses pH, but delivers less charge neutralisation.
On low-alkalinity or low-turbidity water, for membrane pre-treatment, or in cold water. On high-turbidity water a lower-basicity PAC is usually both cheaper and more effective.
Water treatment grade is our standard product. Cosmetic and pharmaceutical grades are a different specification with different certification — tell us your application and we will confirm what we can supply before you order.
Per tonne, yes. Whether it is more expensive in use depends on your water — if it removes the need for lime or soda ash dosing, the total chemical cost can work out lower.
